Speech Recognition not working on Windows Started trying to use it with Windows update Omen 17T using Realtek internal microphone. Cortana works, but speech recognition does not. Updated microphone driver, ran it in Administrator mode, tried turning off Cortana. Next plugged in a Dragon Diction Microphone changing appropriate settings and speech recognition would still not work. Note the speech recognition setup about Peter worked in both cases, but after that speech recognition does not do anything when it says it is listening to commands.
I troubleshooted with Omen tech support and no luck. Also rolled back Windows to earlier build, trying everything above again and it still did not work. I would like to be able to use speech recognition with the Realtek internal microphone. Please provide instructions to fix for build. Unfortunately, sound Recognition still will not respond to my voice, even when it says it is listening in or I have done everything in the articles above. I have reinstalled Windows version using the link you provided. Incidentally that was how I installed the first time. I do not have the skills and experience to do a clean install. The microphone and sound drivers have been updated.
I can perform the sound record setup with the Peter statement. The internal Realtek microphone is enabled and set at default. It works with Cortana. I can record voice notes. I need more suggestions. It appears like it should work based on everything I have done, but it is not. I have troubleshooted with HP tech support to no avail. Thank you for your assistance. This is not directed at you personally, I appreciate your effort to help. This is not an acceptable solution for a new computer and a problem Microsoft created.
I do not have the tech savvy to do this and I should not have to spend the time or money. Not acceptable please tell Microsoft! I posted in the Feedback app under the categories "speech and input", because the accessibility choices for speech recorder and only for Cortana.
I did not see any kind of link or reference after I posted. Opening up feedback now does not show anywhere to generate link. It does show amount of upvotes. My feedback hub says Windows Insider. To my regret, I signed up for Windows Insider thinking it was something cool then thought I had disabled it.
Now nothing about insider shows up about insider build i. Step 2: In the Windows Update section, click Advanced options. I would like to completely turn off the insider. I thought it was but I don't know why it still says that on the feedback hub. My next thought is whether Windows Insider could be related to speech recognition issue.
I believe that the insider was turned off when downloading Windows , which I did through the way recommended here. The other point is that Omen tech support had the same problem with Speech Recognition on their computer. Thank you for your patience that was not easy for me to find. Here is the link. Also I have a question about why it is still saying I'm an Windows Insider on the feedback app and why nothing about Insider shows up now under my advanced Window update settings. Would you answer that here or should I post under another topic?

It would be best to try Troubleshooting it first with Version since you need the Version Update anyway and have me here to help you. This saves your files, apps and most settings in place, is the most stable method to change versions, brings your Updates current, resolves most problems.
If the Version has problems I will work with you to try to resolve them. If the problems are unfixable for now, you have ten days to roll it back in Recovery settings. Since you've done everything on the WIndows side besides a Clean install which might still work and I can help you with as needed I would contact Dragon Support as this may be a known issue and even if not they need to help you get it working since it's paid software.
Please keep me posted as you go. I will be here to help as needed. This is not a Dragon issue, but an issue with Windows Speech Recognition. After I read your message above I uninstalled dragon and restarted my computer. I set up my microphone again using the internal one, no other microphones are setup or plugged in. The Peter test worked. I launched Windows speech recognition. It does not recognize my voice. My Omen 17T is only a few months old. I cannot imagine why I am having this issue.

There is a strange bug between Windows 10 and releases where some issues with components just cannot be resolves from within the operating system with standard instructions.
You just have perform a direct clean install. From another working computer, download and make a bootable copy. The Windows logo will appear on screen, this might be here for a while, as long as you see the indicater, everything should be ok. Select your Language, Time and Keyboard method then click Next. Click Install now Setup will also prompt you to select the edition you have a license for - Home or Pro. Please make sure you choose the right edition.
